Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law SB 1449, which reduces simple possession from a misdemeanor to an infraction. Marijuana possession under one ounce, will be a simple infraction, just like a traffic ticket. The fine will be $100 and there will be no arrest record.
This law goes into effect January 1, 2011.
